Today, gastronomic experiences, inspiration and new ideas are taken from all over the world and combined to create new Finnish cuisine. Finnish gastronomic culture is based on fish, game, forest mushrooms, and wild berries. It reflects strongly the four distinct seasons we have in Finland.

Altogether six Michelin stars have been awarded to five restaurants in Helsinki in 2011. Chief Editor of the Michelin Guide to Europe Rebecca Burr praises the high quality and offerings of the restaurants in Helsinki: ”Whether you are looking for a serious or casual restaurant, something local or something international, you can find it all.” (Rebecca Burr according to Helsingin Sanomat newspaper)

Special restaurant reservation service at the EL 2011

A special restaurant reservation service is available at the Marina Congress Center information desk on Monday and Tuesday from 12:00 to 15:30.

The service is provided jointly by the Royal Restaurants and Palace Kämp Restaurants.

Helsinki has five restaurants that have been granted Michelin stars and four Bib Gourmand ratings.

The dining hall of the Restaurant Savoy is an important part of Finnish design history. The interior was initially designed by Aino and Alvar Aalto in cooperation with textile artist Dora Jung and the then newly established Artek.

Set in a restored red brick warehouse the Restaurant Sipuli offers a truly unique setting for both private and corporate functions.
