Veikkaus was founded in 1940, offering Football Pools as the only game in the beginning. When Lotto was introduced in the early 1970s, it was instantly welcomed by Finns and attained huge popularity. Veikkaus games have been available on the internet ever since 1997. Anyone who is over 18 and lives permanently in Finland can register as Veikkaus’ customer on the internet.

Loyal customers

Nearly one million Finns are already holders of Veikkaus Card, our loyal customer card. The card guarantees secure prize payout directly on the players’ accounts. Veikkaus’ identified customers, playing either by using their Veikkaus Cards at the points of sales or by logging onto the internet gaming service already number over 1.2 million. We use the data from registered gaming to further improve our products and services.

A Finn to Win

The Finnish Ministry of Education distributes Veikkaus funds in total to Finnish arts, sports, science, and youth work. In 2010, a total of EUR 463 million of Veikkaus funds were distributed.

In Finland, the gaming sector is divided between three operators: while Veikkaus runs betting and pools games and instant games, the Finnish Slot Machine Association RAY operates casino games and slot machines, and Fintoto is in charge of on-track horse betting games.
