Opening of the Congress

EL President Friedrich Stickler and CEO of Veikkaus Risto Nieminen welcomed the congress guests to the sixth EL Congress in sunny Helsinki on Monday morning. In his welcome address, EL President Stickler noted that the lottery industry is in turbulence and that we are going through years of significant change. 



The EL Congress has three major tasks: education; cooperation between state lotteries; and promoting issues that are important to the member lotteries. Veikkaus’ CEO Nieminen said that the congress programme had been built paying careful attention to the feedback collected during the previous congress in Istanbul. The renowned speakers of the congress, including President Ahtisaari, and Messrs. Habeler, Pine, Kobe, Vanjoki, Holten, and Zurbriggen, will most certainly provide the congress guests with interesting moments in Helsinki.
